South Africa: ABSIP Bursary 2024

The Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals (ABSIP) is offering the ABSIP Bursary 2024, in partnership with STANLIB, to support historically disadvantaged students pursuing an Investment Management career-related qualification.

About the Bursary

The ABSIP Bursary Fund aims to address the shortage of black professionals in the investment and securities industry. Established in 1995, ABSIP is a highly influential organization in the Financial Sector transformation, affiliated with the Black Business Council.

Benefits of the Bursary

The bursary covers the following expenses:

  • Tuition fees
  • Book allowance (textbooks/course material)
  • Laptop (based on financial need)
  • Accommodation (preferably on campus)
  • Stipend (based on financial need)

Area Covered

The bursary is available for studies towards an Investment Management career-related qualification in the following fields:

  • Business Finance
  • Economics
  • Financial Analysis
  • Investment Management
  • Mathematics
  • Statistics

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be from a historically disadvantaged background
  • Be Black (as defined by the B-BBEE Act)
  • Have completed Matric
  • Be studying or intend to study full-time at selected universities
  • Have a strong academic record
  • Have achieved a minimum average of 75% for core academic modules/subjects
  • Intend to pursue a career within the Investment field
  • Be in financial need

Applications must be submitted online at ABSIP Bursary Application 2024. Required documents include:

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Academic Record/Transcripts (on institution’s letterhead)
  • Quote or fee statement from the University (on institution’s letterhead)
  • Motivational letter
  • Parents or guardians’ ID documents (certified copies)
