The Eastern Cape Office of the Premier (ECOTP) Bursary is a comprehensive financial aid program offered in partnership with MerSETA (Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authority). The bursary aims to support students residing in the Eastern Cape province, pursuing higher education in fields relevant to MerSETA’s sector priority skills.

The ECOTP Bursary covers studies in various fields, including Actuarial Science, Engineering, Finance, Human Resources Management, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Manufacturing, Marketing/Advertising, Polymer Technology, Production and Operations Management, and Supply Chain/Logistics. The bursary award will help students achieve their academic goals without financial burdens.
Area Covered
The bursary is exclusively available to students residing in the Eastern Cape province, which is the second-largest province in South Africa, known for its rich culture and heritage.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen
- Reside within the Eastern Cape province
- Be between 18 and 35 years old
- Study towards a Degree or Diploma qualification in a relevant field
- Be registered at a recognized and accredited University or University of Technology in South Africa
- Be unemployed
- Not be engaged in any other form of government funding
- Preference will be given to students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds
How to Apply
Students who meet the criteria can apply by submitting the required documents:
- Certified copy of ID document
- Certified copy of Matric certificate/equivalent
- Latest academic record
- Proof of registration at a South African University/University of Technology
- Proof of any other form of financial assistance towards studies
